TaylorMade M2 range revealed

The brand new TaylorMade M2 family includes a forgiving driver, fairway wood, hybrid and two iron models

The new TaylorMade M2 family has just burst onto the scene, but before you jump to the ‘not another driver from TaylorMade’ conclusion, here’s what you need to know.

Unlike what its name perhaps suggests, the TaylorMade M2 is not an M1 replacement or upgrade. It in fact, marks the first time TaylorMade has brought both its lower spinning, more adjustable and more forgiving models under the same umbrella.

Previously, there was the ‘R’ side, where better player preferred models like the R7, R1 and R15 were in one family, and then the ‘Burner’ side, where clubs like the Burner, RocketBallz and AeroBurner offered fuss-free forgiveness in another.

Now with the new TaylorMade M family, that has all changed. So both the M1, which is very adjustable, and the more forgiving M2, will look similar and have similar naming conventions.

TaylorMade M2 driver

The new TaylorMade M2 driver has the same high-tech carbon composite crown as the popular M1, but uses the weight that design saves to boost its forgiveness, rather than to add adjustability like the M1.

TaylorMade M2 fairway wood and hybrid

The new M2 fairway wood also utilises the carbon composite crown to save weight and therefore increase its forgiveness for easier, longer launching shots.

The hybrid doesn’t have a carbon composite crown, but does have a redesigned Speed Pocket that makes it very forgiving and versatile.

TaylorMade M2 irons

The new M2 irons feature a weight saving fluted hosel and a distinctive vibration-dampening badge that helps make them very easy to hit, while still feeling good off the face.

They are joined by a set of M2 Tour irons, which have all the same distance characteristics, but in a slightly more compact head that makes shaping shots that bit easier for mid-handicappers.
