Mizuno unveils new MP-25 iron

Mizuno's new MP-25 iron uses Boron to make the material stronger, allowing the faces to be thinner to increase ball speed and distance
Mizuno's highly acclaimed MP Series of irons have been the club of choice for many of the world’s greatest players, and the best players at club level too.
One of two new models added to this popular line by the Japanese brand is the MP-25. Available in shops from September, the MP-25s follow on from the huge success of the JPX 850 Forged irons, which use Boron within the forging to make the material stronger. This allowed Mizuno engineers to be more creative with the design, making the face thinner to increase ball speed across the face while maintaining forgiveness.
With the new MP-25, Mizuno is bringing the proven ball speed advantages of boron-fuelled technology to its MP line-up for the first time. This forged model boasts a compact, tour-inspired head shape, with an injection of Boron for added ball speed and distance. This is Mizuno's first high ball-speed iron designed specifically for tour players through to low/mid handicap amateurs.
The MP-25 heads are Grain Flow Forged from a single billet of 1025 Boron steel, with the injection of Boron allowing a Micro-Slot pocket cavity to be engineered into the longer irons (from 3- to 6-iron) for greater ball speeds, while still delivering the feel and touch that tour players demand. Grain Flow Forging is a process that compresses and maintains a consistent grain through the neck and hosel, guaranteeing greater consistency and precise distance control.
GM Verdict To get such impressive distance from a compact iron with traditional lofts really does widen the appeal of the MP-25s considerably. Good players will appreciate the size, shape, playability and superb feel while game improvers will benefit from the extra distance as well as forgiveness on off-centre hits. The look of this is as close to flawless as you can get when looking at the back and down at address and the flight through the set remained consistent.
The MP-25 will have an RRP of £115 per club and will be in shops from September 1st.
