Bushnell range reader review

Six Golf Monthly readers were recently given the chance to conduct a Bushnell range reader review at Prince's Golf Club during a EuroPro Tour pro-am event, and here's how they got on...

As keen followers of the Golf Monthly Forum will know, we regularly post opportunities our readers can apply for, such as custom fitting days or one-off experiences. A recent one of these saw six golfers take to the fairways of Prince's Golf Club for a Bushnell range reader review.

For those of you who don't know, Bushnell's current distance measuring device line-up ranges from premium gadget-packed lasers like the Tour X, to affordable pocket-sized GPS units like the Neo Ghost, with plenty in between.

Depending on how much detail you're after and what you like to use out on the course, there's something for everyone, or so Bushnell say...

To put that to the test our six readers set out for 18 holes of windswept links golf accompanied by the Tour X laser rangefinder (£419), Tour V3 laser rangefinder (£249) and the Neo Ghost GPS (£99).

They then took note of anything and everything, from ease-of-use to the functions on offer, both on the tee and hitting into greens.

Each of our testers then reported back at the end of their round to pass on their insight for any of you who are currently considering getting a new distance measuring device.

Our testers included a mix of handicaps and GPS and laser rangefinder users, so were in the perfect position to give their mix of opinions. Here's a summary of what they thought...

Bushnell range reader review key findings

All our testers were in agreement that Bushnell's range of distance devices do a great job of aiding your strategy off the tee and boosting your confidence when selecting your club into the green.

Most of the six were surprised by how easy-to-use and affordable the Bushnell Neo Ghost is, and praised its information on hazards and compact size that fitted discreetly in their pockets.

They were also all impressed both the Tour V3 and Tour X laser rangefinders, with the Tour X the clear favourite thanks to its choice of red and black crosshairs, focus wheel and more ergonomic fit in the hand.
