Recent PGA winner Simon Khan has made provisional plans to head to the US Open on June 17, despite missing out on a qualifying spot at Walton Heath the day after his Wentworth success.
Khan lost out in a six-man playoff at Walton Heath, but he has contacted the United States Golf Association in an attempt to discover his standing on the reserves list.
The 37-year-old said: "I've got a tentative booking on a flight. If I'm first reserve I'll definitely go and if I'm second or third I'll have a decision to make, but I think I still would."
Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie has previously voiced his opinion on Khan's situation, saying: "You feel that after his win the USGA might have invited him to play and not made him try to qualify.
"Unfortunately that wasn't the case and unfortunately he missed out at the playoff because to get into the Ryder Cup team, playing in the Majors is a definite advantage."
Since his winning putt was drained on the Wentworth West Course 18th green, Khan has been the recipient of a £637,000 winner's cheque and hundreds of congratulations messages. However the Englishman still waits to find out how far he is from appearing in 2010's second Major, at Pebble Beach, California.
