US Open 2016 Oakmont Country Club: Hole 8
At 288 yards some may be forgiven for thinking the eighth is a par-4
A guide to the eighth hole at Oakmont Country Club ahead of the 2016 US Open
US Open 2016 Oakmont Country Club: Hole 8
Hole 8 - Par 3 - 288 yards
Yep, you read that right. A 288 yard par-3.
Whilst it's probably only a 3-iron for Jason Day, quite a few players, especially the older ones, will be hitting driver here.
The required shape is a draw to miss the huge bunker named 'Sahara' which is around 100-yards long.
Anything right or long will also find sand so the only way to find the putting surface is to hit a beauty and hope that the distance is right.

The green is huge and relatively flat for Oakmont standards.
A birdie here will feel like an eagle.
