Hole 8 – Par 4 – 502 yards
This hole sees a fairway with defined slopes, initially downhill and from left to right, then to uphill and from right to left. The ability to hold the fairway comes from players who are able to work the ball from left to right off of the tee. The approach shot on Pinehurst's 8th hole will generally see players using a mid-iron. The falloff behind the green is around 8 to 9 feet and therefore players must steer clear of going left or over the green.
