No super-injunction can hide the embarrassing escapades of Colin Montgomerie

SCANDALOUS REVELATIONS: no super-injunction can hide the embarrassing escapades of Colin Montgomerie. He shot 83 yesterday in what will almost certainly be his last round at a Major in the States. Added to a first-round 79 he limped away with a whimper from Whistling Straits with the vital statistics of 18-over-par, which included 13 bogeys and four double bogeys. That was four shots adrift of the worst of a group of five PGA club pros propping up the leaderboard. And there are sweaty photographs to prove it.
"Very long two days, very long week unfortunately," Monty said. His playing partner Matt Kuchar, who finished eight-under-par as the early round two pace setter, gave him a 26-stroke spanking. Now that's a whole world of pain for Europe's Ryder Cup captain.
Leading the charge for Europe are Simon Khan and Rory McIlroy at five-under-par. Khan won the (British) PGA Championship at Wentworth in May. It would be a unique double if he can come out on top at the 92nd USPGA Championship. McIlroy carded five birdies and one bogey in a second-round 68 to be in with a chance to win his first Major. "I like the position I'm in," McIlroy said. "I'm in a strong position to make a charge over the weekend."
At least they'll get a lie in on Saturday. Half the players will have to be back at first light to try to get this championship back on track. Message to the fog: FOG OFF.
