GETTING THERE
British Airways (www.ba.com) and Egyptair (www.egyptair.com) operate daily flights to Cairo from London Heathrow. BA also has twice weekly flights from London Gatwick to Hurghada. There are numerous charter flights and package holidays from London and regional UK airports to the popular resorts of Sharm El Sheikh, Luxor and Hurghada.
WHERE TO PLAY
There are 15 quality golf courses in Egypt, several just outside the capital of Cairo.
Hilton?s 36 holes at the Pyramids Golf Club play within sight of the ancient Pyramids, and include nine floodlit holes to enable you to experience golf beneath the stars.
Karl Litten?s Dreamland Golf Resort course stretches to 7,205 yards from the back tees, while J W Marriott?s 6,944-yard layout at Mirage City plays to a par of 72.
In the city of Luxor, the 6,700-yard Royal Valley Course provides an enjoyable test, while at Sharm El Sheikh the Jolie Ville Course plays around 18 lakes and offers views of the Sinai Mountains.

The Cascades Course at the Sheraton Soma Bay Resort on the Red Sea near Hurghada boasts 18 holes designed by Gary Player and is the only links course in Egypt.
Founded in 1898, Alexandria Sporting Club is one of the oldest in Egypt. Playing over flat terrain this par-70 track covers 5,960 yards. Ten more layouts are planned, including a 27-hole Jack Nicklaus design near Cairo.
WHERE TO STAY
Hilton Pyramids Golf Resort Hotel is a good base in the Cairo area, offering preferential tee times for the Dreamland and Pyramids courses. JW Marriott Hotel Cairo is one of the newest resorts, with six tennis courts, 12 restaurants and bars, as well as the Mirage City Golf Club on site.
OFF COURSE
Egypt is a paradise for historians. The Pyramids, the Sphinx, the tombs of the Pharaohs and museums displaying priceless treasures are all easily accessible to visitors. There are excellent beaches and diving sites along the Red Sea coast, plus traditional resort hotels with spas, clubs and bars.
