Rory McIlroy held off Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler and Henrik Stenson to secure his 2nd USPGA and 4th Major Championship.
He was three shots behind standing in the 10th fairway, but made a brilliant eagle to narrow the deficit.
A birdie at 13 saw him reclaim a share of the lead and a 10-footer at the 17th moved him two clear with the par-5 18th remaining.
With Fowler and Mickelson unable to make eagles on the closing holes, McIlroy made a safe par in virtual darkness to secure the title and cap-off a truly thrilling week.
