Jordan Spieth shot 67, five under par, in the second round of the 2015 USPGA Championship, to rise up the leaderboard at Whistling Straits

You could say that Jordan Spieth is getting a bit predictable these days. He won the first two majors of 2015, he was a shot off the playoff in the third, and now he has climbed up the leaderboard in the delayed second round of the 2015 USPGA Championship at Whistling Straits.

Playing with fellow major champs Rory McIlroy and Zach Johnson, 22-year-old Spieth accelerated away from his playing partners with a second round of 67, five under par, with McIlroy posting 71 and Johnson 73. Open champ Johnson is likely to miss the cut at three over par for 36 holes, McIlroy is two under par after a pair of solid 71s, while Spieth sits in a tie for seventh, three shots off the lead when play was called on Saturday evening as a severe storm arrived.

Spieth took full advantage of an early tee time on Friday to post three birdies on each nine, with just a single bogey on the par-three 12th to darken his scorecard, although Spieth was not happy with his driving accuracy after his round.

“I'm not pleased with the way I'm driving the ball at all,” said Spieth. “I'm hitting some quick draws when I'm playing a normal shot, which is weird. I haven't had that really this whole year. So I was kind of just trying to guide the ball off the tee.

“My ball striking into greens is pretty good. I made a couple putts today. With a couple chip-ins for the week and really smart course management and good speed control, we have been able to hold ourselves in there, but in order to keep shooting the rounds like today, I'm going to need to drive the ball a little bit better and make a few more putts, which are really the two keys for me this weekend. It's just going to get more challenging with pin locations and firmness of greens.”
