Picking which 2016 USPGA favourite to back is harder than ever, with the form of Jason Day, Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy tough to predict.

The last USPGA held at Baltusrol was in 2005, so few of the 2016 USPGA favourites have seen the golf course in the flesh.

Thankfully, we're on hand to have a more in-depth look at the 2016 USPGA favourites to rate their chances...

Dustin Johnson - 8/1

The US Open Champion arrives at Baltusrol as the favourite. His recent form includes his first major win, a win at the WGC Bridgestone and most recently a T2 at the Canadian Open, where he finished just one shot back. His USPGA record includes four top 10s since 2009, and Baltusrol will reward long and straight hitters, so Johnson will be the man to beat… as long as he doesn’t beat himself.

GM Rating: 9/10

Rory McIlroy - 9/1

The 2014 USPGA champion is always a possible winner, however, his 2016 season has been mediocre at best. Winning scores at Baltusrol are also always single figures under par, which is a concern for would-be bettors as all McIlroy’s victories have been -12 or lower. That said, the Northern Irishman did battle though a terrible side of the draw at The Open to finish in the top 5, and he also owns an excellent record in this event with two wins (2012 and 2014) and T3s in both 2009 and 2010, plus he'll be desperate to reassert his aurthority after seeing Spieth, Day and Johnson all win majors since he last lifted one.

Jason Day - 10/1

Jason Day has gone from strength to strength over the last few years. The current World Number One's wins include the 2015 USPGA,  and the defending champion will be keen to keep his hands on the Wanamaker trophy. While the Australian might have come off the boil a touch recently, he could easily have won last week at the Canadain Open where he finished five back, were it not for an out-of-the-blue third round 76.

GM Rating: 8/10

Jordan Spieth - 16/1

Just like his form, Jordan Spieth's odds have drifted out as the year has gone by. His Masters meltdown revealed a far-from-perfect long game, and he's been fighting his swing for much of the season since. Despite that internal battle, Spieth has managed two wins this season, plus a T2 at The Masters and a T3 recently at the WCG Bridgestone, so don't write him off completely. He'll need his putter red-hot all week to counter his lack of power in comparison to the other leading contenders, and that's why he's our favourite to avoid.

GM Rating: 6/10

Henrik Stenson 16/1

After producing one of the finest performances in the history of the majors to win at Royal Troon, Stenson could be forgiven for letting his foot off the gas at Baltusrol. Then again, he might just be flooded with confidence and kick on, just as McIlroy did in 2014. The USPGA has been an excellent major for the Swede in recent years, and his last six starts include four top 6 finishes. He was T47 at Baltusrol in 2005, and easily has the form to go much, much better this time around.
