Below, we look at some stand-out facts and figures surrounding The Open Championship and St Andrews, the Home of Golf.
0 – The number of bunkers Tiger Woods found at St Andrews on his way to the title in 2000.
1 – Round Jordan Spieth has played at St Andrews – a practice round before 2011 Walker Cup at Royal Aberdeen.
2 – The number of Major titles Jordan Spieth has won before the age of 22. Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Rory McIlroy managed one between them at this age.
4 – Number of shots Bobby Jones took in Hill bunker on the 11th hole at the St Andrews Open in 1921 before ripping up his card and walking off.

6 – The number of times Harry Vardon won the Open – a record. James Braid, John Henry Taylor, Peter Thomson, and Tom Watson all have five wins.

17 – In 1868 ‘Young’ Tom Morris became the youngest golfer to win the Open at 17 years and five months old.
19 – The number of strokes Tiger Woods finished under par for the 2000 Championship at St Andrews – still a record for any Major.
22 – The number of holes at St Andrews before it changed to 18 in 1764. This move influenced other courses and led to the traditional format.
23 – Years since an Englishman won The Open – Nick Faldo at Muirfield in 1992.
29 – This year will be the 29th time The Open is held at St Andrews. The first was in 1873 and won by Tom Kidd who took away a prize of £11 for his troubles.
36th – Jordan Spieth’s best finish from his two Open starts.
40 – Years since Tom Watson’s first of his five Open wins. He bows out at St Andrews this year at the age of 65. None of his wins came at The Home of Golf, however.

46 – ‘Old’ Tom Morris became the oldest golfer to win the Open at 46 years and 99 days old in 1867.

£170 – 2015 summer green fee for visitors to the Old Course. St Andrews residents can get an annual membership for £187.

£1,150,000 – How much the winner of this year’s Open will take home, up £175,000 from last year. It’s the first time the competition’s winner will win over £1 million. Jack Nicklaus won just £5,250 for his win at St Andrews back in 1970.
