A guide to the seventh hole on the Old Course at Royal Troon ahead of the 145th Open Championship

Hole 7 - Par 4 - 401 yards
The seventh at Troon is named 'Tel-el-Kebir' after a battle in 1882, just before the hole was created.
The dogleg right is littered with fairway pot bunkers so the tee shot, from an elevated teeing ground, has to be accurate.
The longer hitters may be able to take it over the corner but a shot of around 260 yards is all that is needed here to set up a short iron into the green.
The putting surface is guarded by three bunkers and if missed short, you could roll down into the gully that leads up to the green.
