Matt Wallace Facts

1. Matt Wallace was born on April 12, 1990 in Hillingdon, England.

2. His parents are PE teachers, and his Dad also played rugby professionally for the Wasps in the 1970s.

3. After finishing at Aldenham School in 2008, Wallace spent two years as a retail worker for Hollister and occasionally playing county golf, before his Dad told him he needed to decide on a career.

4. Wallace was a very good player of cricket, soccer, and rugby while at school and only began taking golf seriously at the age of 18.

5. He spent a year in Alabama at Jacksonville State University when he was 20, but dropped out after being selected for England Golf’s elite squad.

6. Despite only spending a year in Jacksonville, Wallace secured two wins, was named the OVC Freshman of the Year and held the record for lowest round in school history with a 10-under 62.

7. After turning pro in 2016, Wallace won six times in eight months on the Alps Tour - including five in a row.

8. Wallace only spent one year on the Challenge Tour, winning the Open de Portugal, a dual-ranking event with the DP World Tour, to earn his card for the 2018 season.

9. In his first full season on the DP World Tour, the Englishman won three times at the Hero Indian Open, BMW International Open and Made in Denmark.

10. Wallace's best Major finish is a T3 finish at the 2019 PGA Championship. The year prior, he made a hole-in-one at the event while playing with Jordan Spieth.
