Marc Leishman is an Australian professional who has played on the PGA Tour and LIV Golf League throughout his career, winning multiple high-profile tournaments. Discover more about his life and journey through the game via these facts.

MARC LEISHMAN FACTS

1. Leishman was born in Warrnambool, Victoria on October 24, 1983.

2. He grew up playing at Warrnambool Golf Club as he lived across the street from the course.

3. His dad is a seven-time club champion at the golf club but Leishman beat him when they were paired together at the age of just 13.

4. Leishman enjoyed a superb junior career, winning the Victorian Junior Masters, the South Australian Junior Masters and was the Victorian Boys champion - all in 2001.

5. The Australian turned pro in 2005 at the age of 21.

6. During Leishman's early pro career, he played on the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia, where he won twice. He then moved over to the Korn Ferry Tour for one season, winning once (by a record-equalling 11 strokes) and consequently enjoying promotion to the PGA Tour.

7. In 2009, he became the first Australian to win the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award.

8. Greg Norman was his hero growing up but he modelled his swing on Ernie Els.

9. To date, he is a six-time winner on the PGA Tour including some big tournaments like the Arnold Palmer Invitational, BMW Championship and Farmers Insurance Open. His first victory was the 2012 Travelers Championship.

10. His favourite sport is cricket but he said in the past he likes Aussie Rules Football and surfing too.

11. Leishman has played on four President's Cup International teams to date.

12. Leishman's best world ranking is 12th.

13. Back in 2016, the Aussie partnered with Back Bay Brewery to create Leishman Lager which was served at a gala for the Begin Again Foundation.

14. The Begin Again Foundation was started by Leishman and his wife Audrey after she recovered from a life-threatening bout with toxic shock syndrome, sepsis and acute respiratory syndrome.

15. The beer is based in Virginia Beach which is where the Leishman's currently reside and can be bought at over 100 local places in the region with some of the proceeds going to the foundation.

16. He and his wife Audrey have three children together.

17. Leishman's best finish in a Major came at the 2015 Open Championship where he finished T2nd after losing in a playoff with Zach Johnson and Louis Oosthuizen.

18. He is a keen turf-keeper and enjoys keeping his lawn and home practice facilities in tip-top shape.

19. Leishman represented Australia at the Tokyo Olympics, ending T51st.

20. The Australian joined the LIV Golf League in August 2022 alongside Cameron Smith. He is a member of Ripper GC, with Smith the captain.

21. Leishman says he has made a hole-in-one 14 times.

22. If he could play any course in the world, it would be Pine Valley Golf Club.
