Who Is Justin Thomas’ Caddie?
Since the 2024 Masters, Justin Thomas has been working with veteran looper Matt Minister, who previously caddied for Patrick Cantlay
Justin Thomas has veteran caddie Matt Minister on his bag, with the pair linking up ahead of the 2024 Masters.
Thomas started working with Minister shortly after announcing that he would be parting ways with legendary caddie Jim ‘Bones’ McKay – who famously worked with Phil Mickelson for 25 years – a week before the Masters.
The two-time Major winner had a successful relationship with McKay since they joined forces in late 2021, including during Thomas’ second PGA Championship title in 2022.
However, the pair also experienced some significant lows together, namely the 2023 season where Thomas suffered a worrying slump in form and failed to make the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Following their split, Thomas moved quickly to employ Patrick Cantlay’s former caddie Minister.
Their first tournament together was at the 2024 Masters, where Thomas missed the cut.
Minister has been on tour for the best part of two decades, working with some big names throughout his career.

Prior to Cantlay, Minister has also worked with Sangmoon Bae, Nick Price, Chris Smith, Joe Durant, David Eger, Chip Beck, Eric Compton, Jeff Sluman and Chris Kirk.
Minister was on Cantlay’s bag for all of his eight victories on tour, including when he won the 2021 FedEx Cup and was named PGA Tour player of the year.
Cantlay split with Minister following the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April 2023 and hired Tiger Woods' former long-time caddie Joe LaCava.
Minister is from Worthington, Ohio and grew up playing junior golf at Thomas Worthington high school.
He is a handy golfer himself and played collegiately at the University of Ohio.
Minister said his favorite thing about being a caddie is the people he has met on tour.
“The friendships I have created,” he told The Caddie Network. “Met so many people that I still remain in touch with today. Caddies, players, volunteers and pro-am partners.”
