Anirban Lahiri is one of India's most famous and successful golfers, with 18 professional wins to his name across a long career. Get to know Lahiri a bit better here.
ANIRBAN LAHIRI FACTS
1. He was born in Pune, India in 1987.
2. He picked up golf aged eight after his father, a physician in the armed forces and a recreational golfer, introduced him to the game. His mother, a professor of English, also supported him as a junior player.
3. Lahiri won the individual competition at the 2005 World Junior Golf Team Championship. He also helped India claim team gold at Asian Junior Golf Team Championship that same year.
4. Also in 2005, in order to help fulfil his dream of becoming a pro golfer, Lahiri moved from Pune to Bengaluru in India to train under coach, Vijay Divecha.
5. At the 2006 Asian Games, Lahiri helped India to team silver. He also represented India at the 2006 Eisenhower Trophy.
6. He speaks four languages: Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi and English.

7. Lahiri turned professional in 2007 and joined the Professional Golf Tour of India.
8. Between 2009 and 2014, he won 14 titles that were either exclusively or co-sanctioned by the PGTI.
9. Lahiri won the PGTI's Order of Merit in 2009.
10. He joined the Asian Tour in 2008 and registered his first win at the 2011 Panasonic Open in India.
11. In 2012, Lahiri qualified for his first Major championship at The Open. He finished T31st after recording an ace at the par-3 9th hole at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
12. His interests away from golf include playing computer games, cooking and listening to music.
13. He married his long term partner Ipsa Jamwal in 2014. The pair have two children.
14. The family now live in Dubai after moving from Palm Beach, Florida in 2013.
15. In total, Lahiri has 18 professional wins, including the 2015 Malaysian Open and the 2015 Hero Indian Open on the European Tour. His DP World Tour victories were three weeks apart.
16. He was the first player from India to play in the Presidents Cup when he was picked for the 2015 squad. Lahiri also returned for the 2017 competition.
17. Lahiri finished tied for 5th at the 2015 PGA Championship, his best result in a Major to date.
18. He first played on the PGA Tour in 2016 and has retained his card until 2022. He almost lost it on several occasions, most notably in 2019 when he regained PGA Tour status at Q-School.
19. Lahiri's highest-ever OWGR was 33rd (March 2015).
20. Lahiri has represented India at two Olympic Games - Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

21. In March 2022, Lahiri recorded his highest-ever PGA Tour finish when he ended second to Cameron Smith at The Players Championship. In doing so, he won $2.18 million.
22. Lahiri signed up to the LIV Golf League in August 2022.
23. In his first tournament since joining, the LIV Golf Invitational Boston, Lahiri lost out in a playoff to Joaquin Niemann. Since then, he has finished runner-up three times - including at LIV Golf Andalucia in 2024 when he missed a two-foot putt to win.
24. In 2023, Lahiri was signed to Bryson DeChambeau's Crushers GC. He has been a part of five team wins so far.
25. He launched the BAAN Foundation in 2024, a project designed to help support and promote golf at grassroots level in India.
