Italian brand Duca del Cosma will always do their utmost to produce a trendsetting range of golf shoes that perform as good as they look. That’s why I was keen to test the new Alesi model, which is part of the 2024 spring/summer collection.
In my opinion, the style of this shoe is as near to trainer-like as you can get, but without looking too bulky. It has a feminine appearance, in fact slightly more so than Duca del Cosma’s new Olivera model. The wedge platform sole, and the chic navy and light blue jacquard print along, with a very light shade of pink heel seat, is what sets off this shoe, creating a very fashionable design. It’s only when you look closely at the print that you see it features the ‘C’ for Cosma, similar to the styling that appears on other luxury branded shoes.
It’s made in Italian Nappa leather and this feels very soft to touch, similar to the Ecco Biom C4 shoe, and whatever your preference, there’s a choice of either white/navy or navy/white laces. There’s noticeable detailing like the shiny silver eyelets that are printed with ‘Duca del Cosma, and the logo and colours reflecting the brand’s Italian heritage at the top of the tongue.

I particularly like the raised profile and they felt compact and comfortable, securing my feet in all the right places, yet still allowing them to breathe over 18 holes. I’m a regular size 6 (39), and they suit me perfectly, but they are a fairly narrow fit, so women who require a wide fitting are advised to try before they buy.
As for overall performance, I couldn’t fault the grip and traction of the lightweight spikeless Airplay sole when hitting from a variety of surfaces. On this occasion it was pretty damp underfoot, but the shoes delivered impressive stability. I like the way the sole is designed to extend up to the toe cap and the back of the heel for extra solidity. It’s also worth mentioning that these shoes are waterproof, so fashion and performance combined, they definitely make the list of best women’s golf shoes.
