Golf Monthly Verdict

The scan mode is excellent when scanning for carry distances over hazards. The viewfinder is clear and picks up the flag well. The drawback of the Nikon 1000A S GPS is that it can’t be used in competitions.

This laser range finder can measure distances of up to 1000 yards. A five second continuous measurement function allows you to scan across the horizon for the flag or for hazards. The Nikon 1000A S GPS can also display slope-adjusted distances when on hilly terrain.
