Composite heads often provide a mixed reaction, but the performance and looks of the FT-9 should make it an all-round winner. It seemed to offer more forgiveness than its predecessor, the FT-5, and at impact it sounded great. The variety of neutral, draw and tour (£379) heads mean there are plenty of options available.

The Callaway FT-9 driver is created with workability in mind with the combination of a titanium cup face and a carbon-composite body. External web weighting helps to accurately position the centre of gravity, this means that neutral and draw versions are available. This new offering maintains the traditional Callaway head shape.
