Rio Olympic Golf Course Hole by Hole: Hole 5
The fifth is the second par-5 on the course and should be reachable in two for most of the players
A guide to the fifth hole of the Rio Olympic Golf Course ahead of the 2016 Olympics in August
Rio Olympic Golf Course Hole by Hole: Hole 5
Hole 5 - Par 5 - 559 yards
The second par-5 on the course measures 559 yards and is another great chance of making birdie or even better.
If one of the long hitters can get their tee shot some 330-350 yards down here they will be able to hit a high-fade, for a right-hander, with a long iron to give themselves a chance of eagle.
I should say at this point that the wind will play a big factor during the Olympic golf tournament.
As you can see from my hole descriptions so far there are plenty of opportunities to make birdie or better, but the wind will be the big factor being just 500-yards or so from the sea.

If the wind is coming from the sea, this hole will play down-wind and with a wide fairway the reservoirs down the left shouldn’t come into play unless you're very wayward.
The left hand side of the fairway is the best place to be off the tee giving you a decent look at the green.
Again the green is small and players going for the eagle chance will have to carry two bunkers protecting this slightly raised green.
Getting the ball to stop quickly here and remain on the putting surface will be very difficult so short-left will be a good miss and from there a birdie should be made.
