On June 21, 2009, four men will create history by playing six Open Championship courses in one day, courtesy of the Willow Foundation's Willow Open Challenge.
The men will play 108 holes, walk over 35 miles, and travel more than 350 miles around the country - hoping to raise over £100,000.
The event will mark the tenth anniversary for national charity, Willow Foundation, set up in 1999 by Arsenal FC legend Bob Wilson and his wife, in memory of their daughter who died of cancer at the age of 31.
The charity provides special days for seriously ill 16 to 40-year-olds. Supporter, Ian Poulter, said: "It’s a real challenge and one not for the faint-hearted. As both a golfer and an ambassador for the Willow Foundation, they have my greatest respect and support - I wish them all the best."
Playing in a foursomes format, the men attempting the challenge are Alistair Hunter, Justin Jeffrey, Mike Balfour and Paul White.
Starting at 4.15am they will play Princes, Royal St George's and Royal Cinque Ports before being flown by helicopter to Royal Liverpool to start the afternoon. The final two courses they will play are Royal Birkdale and Royal Lytham & St Annes at 7.45pm.
