Your Golf Travel.com has crowned its winner of the "Ultimate Job in Golf" after the competition reached its climax at the Celtic Manor in Newport, Wales - the host venue of the 2010 Ryder Cup.
American Chris Wandell emerged through 8,000 applicants, several rounds of interviews and a 20-strong tournament field to land a dream job that will involve travelling the globe reviewing and blogging the finest golf courses that Your Golf Travel.com promote.
After the final two competitors matched each other in a play-off, Wandell landed the 12-month £50,000 job when his perfect 7-iron to 12ft won nearest the pin, leaving the 11-handicapper ecstatic. "I was astonished to have made it through the 8,000 applicants and am now overwhelmed to have won the dream job," said Wandel.
"I never thought I'd have the opportunity to travel around the world playing the best courses on the planet. It was a bit like Watson's and Nicklaus's duel in the sun out there, but just in the dark!"
Wandell's first duty as Global Product Development Manager will commence at the US Masters in April, followed by rounds at Pebble Beach, Sawgrass, St Andrews, and a number of other championship venues.
