Woosnam awarded OBE
Victorious European Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam has received an OBE in the New Year's Honours List.

European Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam has been recognised with an OBE in the New Year's Honours List.
The Welshman led his side to an 18.5-9.5 victory over the Americans at The K Club in Ireland last year ? a result that mirrored the Europeans' historic win in 2004. It was the Continent's third consecutive triumph in the event, a feat that has never been achieved before.
"The Ryder Cup was fantastic and was always going to be the pinnacle of my career," said the 48-year-old Woosnam.
"On top of it, to be recognised via an award like this is obviously brilliant and I feel very proud indeed."
