Author Andrew Greig offers an inspiring and original read as he documents his return to golf after an absence of 35 years following a traumatic illness. A beautiful and flowing book, Greig slowly re-discovers his love for the game of his homeland as he travels around 18 of Scotland?s most mesmerising courses. A different but wonderful book and one well worth picking up.

Money Golf ? 600 Years of Bettin? On Birdies by Michael K Bohn, published by Potomac Books, £12.00

A little wager riding on that final three-footer always makes the game a little more interesting and the fact that 90% of golfers bet when they play is just one of the many fascinating facts in Bohn?s anthology on the subject. Not only does this book document the history of betting on golf but perhaps more interestingly it is stuffed full of gambling anecdotes ? a cracking read!

Links of Heaven ? a complete guide to golf journeys in Ireland by Richard Phinney and Scott Whitley, published by Aurum, £14.99

Originally published in 1996, this is a fully updated and expanded guide to Ireland?s best courses. However, it also offers something extra with the authors painting an attractive and amusing portrait of the history of the courses and their modern setting. If this doesn?t make you want to pack up your sticks and head to the Emerald Isle, then you have a stronger constitution than I do.

Greg Norman ? The Way of the Shark by Greg Norman, published by Ebury Press, £8.99

Great news that this deeply revealing autobiography is now available in paperback. The Great White Shark delivers just what a golf fan would expect of the man ? it?s fiery, passionate, honest and an exciting read. His lows are well known and he doesn?t hide from the reality of his career, which makes for very interesting reading. A global business empire and a celebrity life-style also help the book along!

John Daly ? My life in and out of the rough by John Daly, published by Harper Sport, £6.99

Probably the only man who could rival Norman for interest, an account of the Wild Thing?s exploits is an absolute must-read ? if for nothing else then just to see for yourself the excesses he has pushed himself too. You?ll find yourself gasping with disbelief at most of it, when your not wondering how on earth he managed to keep his head together to win two Majors. One thing is for sure, you won?t be bored.
