Westwood wins by five

Lee Westwood produced a flawless final round of 65 to win the British Masters by five shots at The Belfry.

Lee Westwood claimed his 18th win on the European Tour with a week of impressive ball striking at the British Masters. A 30-foot putt for birdie on 16 and a superb eagle on 17 helped the Englishman win by five shots from Ian Poulter at the Belfry.

Mark Foster had held the lead going into the final round where a 73 was good enough to finish in third place. Foster would have started the day with a four shot lead but made a double bogey at 18 on Saturday.

This was Westwood?s second victory of the season after winning the Valle Romano Open de Andalucia by two shots in May. His win at the Belfry moves him into 12th on the Order of Merit with ?1,270,915 seasons earnings.

?I barely put a foot wrong out there and made some key putts when I needed to on the back nine,? said Westwood. ?On the 16th, I holed a big 35 footer like that in the 2002 Ryder Cup against Tiger and Davis, and I said that to Alastair my caddie after it went in."
