BC Open, Turning Stone Resort, New York State

American John Rollins took advantage of a weakened field - due to the staging of the Open Championship in the UK - to secure a one stroke victory on the USPGA Tour in the BC Open at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, New York State.

A final round of 64 and a total of 19-under par gave Rollins his first win since the 2002 Canadian Open, as he pipped compatriot Bob May to the victory. The tournament was hastily relocated to Turning Stone after flooding at the original venue, the En-Joie Golf Club, rendered the course unplayable.

Shigeki Maruyama finished one stroke behind May in third place, with David Bradshaw and Omar Uresti of the USA finishing in a tie for fifth place at -16.

"It's a nice way to come back and a big relief," Rollins said.

"It's not like a one-time fluke anymore. I've got that out of my mind - if it was there or in anyone else's."

Catalonia Masters, D'Aro Golf Club, Girona

Gwladys Nocera of France shot a third consecutive round of 69 to win the Catalonia Masters by five strokes in Spain on Sunday. Her nine-under-par total of 207 for the three rounds saw her finish well clear of the runner-up, first-year pro Sarah Kemp of Australia.

Nocera is now top of the money list on the Ladies European Tour, adding this title to her victories in the Italian and Swiss Opens earlier in the season. If she can secure one more win before the end of the year she will equal the record number of four tour wins in a single season, set by Britain's Laura Davies in 1995.

Sweden's Maria Hjorth and Ludivine Kreutz of France finished tied for third place on -3, but they were unable to provide a real challenge to Nocera, who all but secured the title with five birdies in the first eight holes on Sunday.

"It feels great to have won for a third time this year and it does give me extra confidence going into the Evian Masters next week on home soil," a delighted Nocera said after lifting the trophy.
