Webb Simpson cruised to a six-shot victory over fellow American Jason Bohn and Japan's Ryo Ishikawa in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open over TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas.
Simpson carried a four shot lead into Sunday, and he birdied two of his first three holes on the final day to establish an advantage that wouldn't be seriously challenged for the remainder of the round.
He picked up his first victory on the PGA Tour since the U.S. Open of 2012 and moves second in the early stages of the 2013-14 FedEx Cup race.
"I felt like I was in control," he said. "I asked my caddie, once I hit it on the green on 17 where we stood. And I was just thankful that I was able to kind of manage my golf ball the last couple of rounds."
Chesson Hadley, a Web.com Tour graduate, began the day in second spot but he couldn't get it going on Sunday and he finished with a 70 to slip back into a tie for fifth place.
It was Jason Bohn of the USA and Japan's Ryo Ishikawa who came through to share second spot. Ishikawa, who also gained PGA Tour status through the Web.com Tour finals, fired a 65 in the last round.
Charley Hoffman played an excellent final round of 64 to climb into fourth place.

"When you get that far up the leaderboard, every putt you make means big dollars and FedEx Cup points," he said. "To get the year started off on the right foot, it's key to make those putts."

Fergus is Golf Monthly's resident expert on the history of the game and has written extensively on that subject. He has also worked with Golf Monthly to produce a podcast series. Called 18 Majors: The Golf History Show it offers new and in-depth perspectives on some of the most important moments in golf's long history. You can find all the details about it here.
He is a golf obsessive and 1-handicapper. Growing up in the North East of Scotland, golf runs through his veins and his passion for the sport was bolstered during his time at St Andrews university studying history. He went on to earn a post graduate diploma from the London School of Journalism. Fergus has worked for Golf Monthly since 2004 and has written two books on the game; "Great Golf Debates" together with Jezz Ellwood of Golf Monthly and the history section of "The Ultimate Golf Book" together with Neil Tappin , also of Golf Monthly.
Fergus once shanked a ball from just over Granny Clark's Wynd on the 18th of the Old Course that struck the St Andrews Golf Club and rebounded into the Valley of Sin, from where he saved par. Who says there's no golfing god?
