The young Australian told reporters: ?I think I had some luck today and I think if that luck stays with me then I?ll be in it with a shake at the end and that?s all you can ask for. Everyone in the field is a great player, so there?s going to be lots of them who are going to be chasing me.?
She was joined at the top of the leaderboard by Lorena Ochoa and Mi Hyun Kim. Kim said ?I had some great shots today and every shot felt comfortable. My putting was good and I feel more comfortable with my short game too, so I think that is why I played well.?
All three tee off in their second rounds later this afternoon but are already coming under pressure from the resurgent Michelle Wie, currently on five under and looking strong.
Defending champion Paula Creamer is also going well, leading Britain?s Laura Davis by one stroke on 4 under.
