Value golf courses in GB&I: London
We've reviewed some excellent value golf courses in an effort to prove that the recession needn't mean you have to cut down on your golf. From Canterbury in the south east to Kirkistown Castle in Northern Ireland, take at look at these 50 value tracks.
Ealing
GF: £40 STATS: par 70, sss 70, 6,191 yards T: 020 8997 0937 W: ealinggolflclub.com Just eight miles from Marble Arch at the Perivale turn from the A40, Ealing Golf Club is a testing track that has produced a number of good players over the years. It was founded in 1898 and James Braid was responsible for the original course, but the current layout dates from 1926 when Harry Colt was employed to design a new course after the club acquired eight extra acres of land.
Highgate
GF: £35 STATS: par 69, sss 69, 5,957 yards T: 020 8340 5467 W: highgategc.co.uk
About ten minutes from Highgate tube, Highgate GC is one of London’s best-kept secrets. When out on the fairways it’s hard to believe you’re just four miles from Oxford Street and even long-time residents of the capital are unaware of its existence. The land on which the course sits was once a hunting estate owned by the Bishop of London, and is a beautiful swathe of mature parkland.
