Valle Romano Open de Andalucia Preview
Aloha Golf Club will stage an official European Tour event for the first time and honorary member Miguel Angel Jimenez could make it three wins in his hometown of Andaluncia.
Tournament: Valle Romano Open de Andalucia
Course: Aloha GC, Andalucia, Spain.
Prize Fund: 1,000,000
Course Details: Par 72, 6881 yards. Aloha Golf Club will stage an official European Tour event for the first time. A course, which opened in 1975, is short in comparison to many on the European Tour, but is home to a number of long par 3?s. The narrow, undulating fairways mean players will frequently have to hit from sloping lies so precision and accuracy will be required.
Key Hole: The 13th hole is not the only long par 3 you will encounter at Aloha, but it is certainly the hardest. The uphill 214-yard tee shot can play up to two clubs longer depending on the pin position. On reaching the large, two-level green players are often faced with a long-range, breaking putt, justifying its rating as stroke index one.
The Lowdown: Honorary member Miguel Angel Jimenez, who is helping promote the event, could make it three wins in his hometown of Andaluncia this week. Compatriot, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano will be looking for back-to-back victories, although he admitted he plays ?terribly? the week after a win. England?s Stuart Little has the kind of game to win at Aloha, he currently sits top of the greens in regulation charts. Last time the European Tour visited Spain though it was South African Charl Schwartzel who came out on top.
Contenders: Miguel Angel Jimenez, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, Stuart Little, Charl Schwartzel.
