US Open: betting guide
The 2011 US Open begins at Congressional Country Club on Thursday. Here are the players that are tipped to challenge
If you want to win a US Open you have to be able to hit fairways and get up and down out of a paper bag. This week at Congressional Country Club in Washington D.C. it will be no different.
The weather may have been very hot recently in the area so the rough may not be quite as penal as we have seen at US Open's in the past, but hitting fairways will still be the best way to stop big numbers creeping onto your card.
Therefore our picks are based on who has the attributes described above as well as having some previous experience over the course.

Luke Donald -For me he has simply been playing too well to not be looked at. His odds are by no means amazing but he is the best player in the world with a game that means he could well challenge.
KJ Choi -Has already won this year at the Players, again has a solid tee-to-green game and importantly has won at Congressional in the past.
Steve Stricker - Has without any doubt got the game to win a US Open. Straight driver, a hot putter and a calm temperament. Again has already won this year at the Memorial.

Matt Kuchar - Again has a super solid game. Finished tied 6th at last year's US Open and has eight top tens already this year.
Ernie Els - Ignore the South Africans at your peril. They already hold two Major trophies and who would bet against them winning a third here? I have gone for Els because of his excellent price and of course he won the last US Open to be played at Congressional.
Sergio Garcia - Garcia for all his troubles has played well in the US Opens he has been involved in. Has three top tens out of the 11 he has competed in. Has showed signs recently of coming back into form. Could this be his week?
