Tiger Woods shoots 64 at Wyndham
The former world no. 1 shot his best round of the year
His first round of 64 was his best of the year.
Tiger Woods sits two shots off the lead at the Wyndham Championship after carding a round of 64 yesterday.
Despite making a bogey immediately after an opening birdie, Woods went on to pick up six more shots at the tournament in North Carolina.
The former world no. 1 said that his iron play and putting were the best aspects of his game as he shot his best round of the year by two strokes.
Afterwards, Woods told the Golf Channel: "My iron play was very solid, but it was nice to finally get some putts going in.
"On top of that it was nice to make some par putts. It's nice to make birdie putts, but I feel more energetic when I make those putts than when I make birdie."
Eric Compton, Tom Hoge and William McGirt sit clear at the top of the leaderboard, with Woods aiming to overtake them in order to win his first trophy since 2013.

Woods won the WGC Bridgestone Invitational for his last PGA Tour win, finishing seven shots clear of Keegan Bradley and Henrik Stenson.
This year, Woods has missed the cut at a tournament four times, including three of his last five events.
His best finish was T17 at the Masters in April, finishing 13 shots behind eventual winner Jordan Spieth.
It is still possible for Woods to make the season-ending FedEx Cup play-offs, but he would need to win or finish second to have a chance of making it into the top 125 on the points list.
At the start of the tournament, Woods was 292 points behind Charl Schwartzel in 125th place, with a second placed finish giving him 300 points and a chance at taking part in the play-offs.
Woods is currently at no. 286 in the Official World Golf Ranking, sat between Lucas Lee of Brazil and Sungjoon Park of South Korea.
