The Race to Dubai has continued to gather momentum with the conclusion of this year’s first Major, the US Masters at Augusta National, Georgia. A brief look back and preview of upcoming events on the European Tour.

The Race to Dubai has continued to gather momentum with the conclusion of this year’s first Major, the US Masters at Augusta National, Georgia.
The final event of March saw the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla play host to the Open de Andalucia. Søren Kjeldsen continued his fine form to finish on 14-under par and win by three shots. The victory ensured a third career European Tour victory for the Dane and a second in just nine events.
It was a first-time winner, however, who emerged victorious the following week during the Tour’s return to Portugal. Michael Hoey withheld a strong challenge from Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano to claim victory at the third hole of an enthralling sudden-death playoff.
The Masters, of course, was an event to savour. In perfect conditions on a perfect Augusta course, we were treated to a feast of, well…near perfect golf. Tiger versus Phil provided a fascinating sub-plot, whilst the serious business remained in the tense battle between Angel Cabrera, Kenny Perry and Chad Campbell.
Cabrera eventually doubled his Major tally, adding the coveted Green Jacket to the US Open he 2007. The prize money, in excess of $1 million, sent Cabrera soaring to third place in the Race to Dubai Standings.
Australian Scott Strange was victorious at the Volvo China Open at the expense of runner-up Fernandez-Castano, although a win cannot be far away for the Spaniard.
