TaylorMade R9 fairway woods, Rescue 2009 and 09 Burner irons
TaylorMade introduce two new fairway woods, two hybrids and a set of irons – the TaylorMade R9 fairway woods, TaylorMade Rescue 2009, and TaylorMade Burner 09 irons
TaylorMade has followed up their new R9 driver with two new fairway woods, two hybrids and a set of irons – the TaylorMade R9 fairway woods, TaylorMade Rescue 2009, and TaylorMade Burner 09 irons.
The R9 fairway woods, available in March, offer eight clubhead positions using their new Flight Control Technology (FCT). This allows players to adjust the face angle, loft and lie of the club. This adjustability will mean that a player will be able to experiment with side-to-side trajectory change of up to 35 yards, as well as selecting a look at address that suits them.
In addition, TaylorMade’s R9 fairway woods feature the “new classic” shape that sits cleanly at address. The CG is much lower than the R7 fairway woods making them easier to launch, and a new sole design reduces the amount of sole area that comes into contact with the turf, to promote a cleaner and more consistent strike.
The hybrid/rescue clubs arrive in May in the form of the TaylorMade Rescue 2009. A smaller, compact clubhead should improve playability. The Rescue TP version features FCT used in the R9 driver and fairway woods, not available in the standard Rescue 2009, and never seen before in a hybrid.
Finally, TaylorMade is preparing to launch its Burner 09 irons, available in May, billing them as ‘the most dynamic looking, best performing iron, ever.’ Their test results have indicated impressive performance in terms of distance, accuracy and forgiveness.
Revolutionary new design procedures saw the long, mid and short-irons all designed separately. The irons feature a futuristic blend of curves, angles and lines. Above all, the performance of the irons is seen as the new benchmark and, what’s more, their versatility means that they’ll suit high-handicap players, not just the Tour pros.
