Steve Lowery won his first PGA Tour title since 2000 after a sudden death play-off victory over Vijay Singh.
Singh had held a four-shot lead going into the back nine but made three successive bogeys and needed a birdie on the last to force a play-off.
Lowery looked out of the tournament on Saturday when he made two double-bogeys but he fought back brilliantly with six birdies on his last five holes. He again looked to have lost his opportunity to win on Sunday when he made bogey at 14 for the second consecutive day. A birdie two at 17 took him back to ten-under and into a play-off. Singh found two bunkers on the play-off hole and could only manage a par while Lowery made birdie to take the title.
The American was playing on a Minor Medical Exemption after injuring his wrist a year ago during a tournament. The third win of his career earns him $1.080 million, a place in the Masters and full exemption on the PGA Tour.
