Sony Open betting guide - McNeill, Marino and Reavie

Speaking of the Fall Series, GEORGE MCNEILL seemed to be making significant strides during that late-season spell, and looks a contender on a course where he’d showed plenty of promise beforehand. He made the top-20 on both previous visits, and would surely improve on that if he could maintain the superb tee-to-green stats that enabled 2nd place in the Ginn Sur Mer Classic and two further consecutive top-15s in October.   I mentioned STEVE MARINO as a likely first-time PGA Tour winner on several occasions last year, and this week looks as good an opportunity as anywhere. He scores very well on all the key stats, and played very well to finish 4th at Waialae last year. As he finished the 2008 season well, there’s much to suggest Marino will again hit the new campaign running.   Finally, CHEZ REAVIE took the eye at Kapalua, suggesting he has every chance of belying odds of 100/1. Despite starting terribly with a 75 on that easy course, Reavie stayed on well for a perfectly respectable 12th. Notably, he ranked 3rd for greens in regulation, a stat that will be more useful this week. He’s already proved he has bottle in holding off the likes of Antony Kim to win last year’s Canadian Open from the front, and put up a very promising performance on his course debut last year. In what was his first event as a fully fledged PGA Tour player, Reavie opened up with three sub-70 rounds before a poor final day sent him down the leaderboard.
