Solheim Cup on course for sell-out
Two-thirds of tickets for the 2007 Solheim Cup between Europe and the USA in Sweden this September have already been sold.
The organisers of the 2007 Solheim Cup have announced that 66% of tickets for the tournament have already been reserved with eight months still remaining until the event. The capacity will be limited to just 30,000 spectators per day.
Played over three days, with a mixture of fourball, foursomes and singles matches, this will be the 10th edition of the Solheim Cup ? the USA currently lead six matches to three.
The event will be played from September 14-16 at Halmstad Golf Klubb, where Europe will be looking to win back the trophy in a similar style to that of 2003. That year, the event was held at Barsebäck G&CC with sell-out crowds of 100,000 witnessing an emphatic European victory.
Sweden?s Helen Alfredsson, the 2007 European captain, said: ?It?s great to be playing on home soil and we want as many spectators to come and support Europe as possible. It?s going to be a fantastic week and we really appreciate the support that we?ll get from a home crowd.?
