Another young American golfer in early contention

Anarly look at Shenzhen International tournament from the European Tour. Bubba Watson is vying for a title for a second straight year.

The annual Shenzhen International tournament, China is being played this weekend.

The biggesst name in the field is Bubba Watson, who will be looking for a title on the other side of the world after a disappointing Masters bid at Augusta.

Here's a early look from the course.

After one round already being played from the tourney. Bubba Watson finds himself four strokes off the pace.

Jet lag may be a factor for the long-hitting lefty. The flight from Augusta to Shenzhen is about a day long, and a 10 hour time difference.

After taking home $40,000 from the Masters, Watson is competeing for €386,000 ($412,000).

The 2013 Madeira Islands Open winner, American Peter Uihlein is right in the thick of things in the early goings at Shenzhen.

With a first round score of 67 (-5), expect him to challenge through the weekend.

When shooting a first round score below 70, Uihlein has only missed one cut this year.

Playing in front of his countrymen, Li Hao Tong, goes into Friday's round 5 shots from the leader after a -1.

Li has the honour of playing the first two rounds with Bubba Watson and two time European Tour Champion, Alex Levy.

During his time in America on the Web.com Tour this year, Li has finished in the top 11 twice in just six outings.

Englishman Ross Fisher shot at first round -3 during first round play in China.

Fisher has enjoyed several top 30 finsishes on the European Tour this year and is trying to get his first win since the 2014 Tshwane Open.

With his reknowned pink driver, Bubba Watson is looking to make it back to back wins in china.

The American won the WGC-HSBC champions in Shanhai last November.

When speaking ahead of this weeks tournament, Watson said he he is excited to be back on Chinese soil.
