Seve Ballesteros has been allowed to return home from hospital following a fourth brain operation.
The five-time Major winner was diagnosed with a brain tumour in October after he collapsed on route to a golf exhibition.
Doctors removed the tumour, but Ballesteros returned to surgery to relieve fluid on the brain, and spent a number of weeks in intensive care.
However, the Spaniard left La Paz hospital in Madrid on Tuesday morning, and he’ll continue to be treated there as an outpatient.
The 51-year-old retired from competitive golf last summer following a long battle against back and knee pain.
Ballesteros won 87 titles during an illustrious career, including the Open Championship in 1979, 1984 and 1988, and the US Masters in 1980 and 1983.
His achievements made him a three-time winner of the European Tour Player of the Year (1986, ’88, ’91).

Despite ill health, the Spaniard has concentrated on golf course design, and he is the new ambassador of MD Golf.
But Ballesteros has been forced to hand over the captaincy of the Royal Trophy to compatriot Jose Maria Olazabal - a Ryder Cup-style contest between Europe and Asia played in January.
