Setanta launches on Freeview
Setanta Sports, the exclusive broadcaster of the US PGA Tour, has today become the first premium sports channel to launch on Freeview

Setanta Sports, the exclusive broadcaster of the US PGA Tour, launches today on Freeview. All nine of its sports channels will be available to subscribers for the "introductory" offer of £10.99 per month ? there will also be a one-off £10 connection charge.
Setanta broadcasts 80 live golf tournaments throughout 2007, on both its dedicated golf channel and on its generic sports channels. These will include The Players Championship, the Deutsche Bank Championship, the BMW Championship and the Presidents Cup. Additionally Setanta will carry coverage of events on both the Champions and Nationwide Tours.
The Irish broadcaster won the UK TV rights for the US PGA Tour from Sky Sports in January of this year, after the Rupert Murdoch-owned Sky had held them since 1993.
Setanta Sports is to be the only premium sports channel available on Freeview and it is not only golf that will keep viewers entertained; it has the rights to 46 Barclays' Premiership matches this season, as well as football and rugby action from some of the top leagues around Europe.
Michael O?Rourke, co-founder and joint CEO of Setanta, said: ?This is an unbeatable proposition. Setanta gives sports fans premium sports for just over a tenner, a fraction of the price of other sports subscriptions.?
