Sensational Stenson: European Tour Player of the Year
Henrik Stenson took the golfing world by storm this year, becoming the first European player to win the Race to Dubai and the FedEx Cup in the same season.
The emphatic style with which he achieved this monumental feat was even more impressive as he went into the final event of the Race to Dubai needing to win in order to secure the title. Unpeturbed, he managed a staggering 25-under par, and capped it all off with a magnificent 72-hole eagle.
The Swedish sensation has now spent over 100 weeks ranked in the World top 10 and is now safely sat in third position in the World Rankings, making his career ranking the third best by any Swedish golfer.
"It's a big honour to be voted European Tour Player of the Year," Stenson told www.europeantour.com
"It just reflects the stellar year I have had. It has been an unbelievable year I am delighted to win this award, especially as I'm the first Swede to do so.
"The majors are the biggest goal for me now and if I can continue to play at the level I have been then I feel I can have a pretty good shot at them."

With the winning formula Stenson appears to have found he now surely has to have his eyes set on the No.1 spot, though beating Tiger, Rory and the rest to this position will be by no means easy.
Still, Stenson may take some satisfaction in the knowledge that every golfer who has won the Race to Dubai has been No.1 in the World Rankings at some point in their respective careers.
