Race to Dubai: The story so far
A close look at the Race to Dubai Rankings and a look ahead to the next few months as the inaugural season-long tournament takes shape with a World Golf Championship and 2009's final Major sure to provide changes in the top 10 of the Money List.
Following visits to the Far East, Australia, South Africa, Dubai and numerous stop offs in Europe, the Race to Dubai has really moved up a gear in recent weeks with the cream rising to the top following some big tournaments.
It doesn’t seem too long ago that Sergio Garcia won the HSBC Champions. Little has gone the Spaniard’s way since but he remains in the hunt for the inaugural title, and he’s joined in the Money List top 10 by fellow Europeans Paul Casey, Martin Kaymer, Ross Fisher, Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño and Oliver Wilson.
Golf Monthly Forum: Who do you think will win the Race to Dubai?
Naturally, Angel Cabrera’s US Masters win means the big Argentine retains a place in the top 10 with Geoff Ogilvy taking up the only other non European position, largely due to his World Golf Championships (WGC) - Accenture Match Play victory.
But, with two WGCs and the US PGA Championship still to be played, plus three and a half month’s worth of golf remaining, the Race to Dubai winner could yet mount a charge from outside the top 10.
Whether you’re backing our resident betting expert or just willing on your favourite players, the next few months promise to be gripping.
