A fairly strong field has gathered for the fifth anniversary of the Portugal Masters and there is good value to be had in the betting, starting off with last year's winner.
Richard Green is not a prolific winner by any means and isn't exactly enjoying a vintage season at 49th in the Race to Dubai but he can turn it on seemingly from nowhere and at 40/1, he's a decent shout.

A cluster of players were impressive at last week's Madrid Masters. If they were horses you'd say they were held back for a little too long or needed an extra furlong.
Peter Hanson was one of those who closed with a classy 68 in Madrid as others around him struggled. Odds of 14/1 aren't great but they're appealing enough for a smallish bet.
We were tempted by old favourite Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano at 25/1 but he seems as likely to throw in a 75 as a 65 as he did in Madrid. Nevertheless, he looks to be finding some form again and he'll have his supporters this week.

Elsewhere, Thomas Bjorn can be backed at 33/1 which seems decent value given the year he's had.
Some golf punters will also be tempted by the same price on Lorenzo Gagli who finished second at the Madrid Masters and looks like the real deal. A small bet on the Italian wouldn't be bad advice.
