Website readers following the Open Championship on www.golf-montly.co.uk were just about correct in their voting for the correct winning total at the 135th renewal of the great event at Hoylake last week.
Our Open-themed poll asked readers to predict the week's winning aggregate total, and the majority of voters correctly predicted that it would be -15 or better. 53% of readers were successful, with 47% incorrectly predicting that the winning total would lie somewhere between -8 and -14. Nobody voted for the the third category, which was even-par to -7 inclusive.
Tiger Woods secured his third Open title with an eighteen-under-par total of 270, finishing two strokes clear of his fellow American Chris DiMarco.
Readers can now take part in our new poll, which attempts to ascertain which European will become the next player to win a Major title and end a barren spell that stretches back to Paul Lawrie's 1999 Open win at Carnoustie.
