Peter Uihlein to join European Tour
American signs with Chubby Chandler's ISM and will join the European Tour upon turning professional next month
Peter Uihlein has opted to join The European Tour upon turning professional instead of joining the PGA Tour.
The 22-year-old American, who appeared in the last two Walker Cups for the US, winning six out of eight matches, has signed up with Chubby Chandler's ISM management stable and is set to make his professional debut in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship next month.
Uihlein had an impressive amateur record and was ranked as the world's number one amateur several times. He also put in a fine performance at this year's Open at Royal St Georges, making the cut before finishing as the second highest placed amateur behind Tom Lewis.
On signing with ISM, Uihlein said: "The PGA European Tour plays all over the world from the United Kingdom to China, from Korea to South Africa and from the Middle East to Southeast Asia.
"Those players who have played on the Tour, and who are still members, make for a pretty impressive list.
"I just feel the ISM team is well-positioned to help me achieve my goals."
Managing director of ISM, Andrew "Chubby" Chandler, said: "It is a pioneering move by him - the obvious step would have been to try to establish his career in the United States.

"But having seen players like Lee Westwood, Charl Schwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen and Darren Clarke build careers by playing all over the world, including America, Peter has been encouraged by that.
"I'm sure that he will benefit enormously from the experience."
