Oldcorn wins De Vere Club PGA Seniors Championship

Andrew Oldcorn won the De Vere Club PGA Seniors Championship at Slaley Hall to complete a famous double, ten years after claiming the European Tour's PGA Championship at Wentworth.

The Scot posted a final-round 70 for an impressive nine-shot victory over Gordon Brand Jnr and they were to be the only two players under par in testing conditions on the Hunting Course.

"This is a very special moment and it couldn't have happened at a better place," said Oldcorn.

"Slaley Hall is in incredible condition - as good as I have ever seen. This is a magnificent tournament with a fantastic title sponsor. It has been a real pleasure to play the Hunting Course and stay in the hotel this week so a big thank you to De Vere for their hospitality".

Only Neil Coles and Brian Huggett have previously achieved the double in winning both the PGA Seniors Championship and European Tour equivalent .

The likes of Sandy Lyle, Sam Torrance, Ian Woosnam and Mark James, were unable to mount a challenge and even Brand Jnr was a distant second.

For sponsors De Vere it was a record breaking week with crowds up significantly on previous years.
