Nick Watney won the PGA Tour’s Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines following a four under 68 to give him a final-hole victory over John Rollins.
Watney rallied to birdie two of his last three holes, including a 40-foot putt from the fringe on the 16th.
The 27-year-old never took the lead until the final shot of the tournament - a two-foot putt to complete a five-shot comeback for the second victory of his career.
"If you're going to lead for one hole, this is the time to do it," reflected Watney.
“In a tournament like this when it's really tight down the stretch, you've got to take it. You've got to grab it. John (Rollins) is a great player, very seasoned, and he wasn't going to give me anything.
"I knew we had some good holes to play, and I definitely didn't want to give up. I just tried to keep my head down and give myself chances, and I was able to make some putts."
Luke Donald continued his promising recovery from last season’s wrist injury, finishing six shots back in a tie for seventh.
