A finely-tuned Odyssey putter helped Callaway Golf’s Nick Dougherty to victory in the BMW International Open and booked him a place in the Open Championship at Turnberry.
Nick Dougherty visited Callaway’s Putter Lab two weeks ago where he made use of the state-of-the-art Science & Motion custom-fitting technology to fine-tune his putting performance.
The session produced immediate results and helped the Englishman deliver impressive statistics on the greens of Munchen Eichenried in the BMW International Open. He averaged just 1.579 putts per greens in regulation and 26.7 total putts per round during the tournament, using his newly fitted Odyssey White Hot XG #7 Centre-Shaft putter.
Odyssey’s European Tour representative, Seamus Sweeney, said: "Nick was looking for more consistency in his putting stroke and after some consultation we suggested four models he should try."
"After analysing his putting stroke and the way in which the ball reacted off the face of each club, we were able to scientifically evaluate the ‘best’ putter and set-up that was going to give Nick the optimum performance."
Dougherty's impressive victory secured him some key tournament entries later in the season, including a place in the Open Championship at Turnberry.
The Putter Lab is based at Callaway’s European HQ in Chessington, Surrey, and is available to all Callaway customers.
