Moul retains No.1 spot

Jamie Moul continues to rule supreme at the top of the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) which was introduced by the R&A earlier this year.

Moul (pictured) has now been leader for an impressive 11 weeks since usurping Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy. The first player to top the charts was Scotland's Richie Ramsay, who enjoyed a spell in the limelight when he competed in the Masters in April. Ramsay qualified for Augusta after winning the 2006 US Amateur Championship. He beat home favourite John Kelly 4&2 in the final, becoming the first Scot since 1898 to claim the title.

Elsewhere in the rankings, America?s Michael Thompson was the biggest mover, jumping 89 places to number 54. Meanwhile, Rohan Blizard from Australia moved up one place to creep into the top 20 for the first time. However, Britain still rules the world as far as amateur golf is concerned, boasting eight representatives in the top 20.
